The event, which Warner Bros. calls “the cutest contest of the year,” will soon be in its 21st year and will feature 142 rescue puppies from 80 shelters in 40 states and two countries.
Warner Bros. says the annual three-hour event is “the longest-running adoption television event.”
“Welcoming more puppies than ever before, Puppy Bowl XXI will explore the emotional journeys from birth to adoption, and the rescues and rescues that help animals find their forever homes,” Warner Bros. said in a news release. “We would like to highlight the tremendous dedication of the facility.”

When is the Puppy Bowl?
Puppy Bowl is scheduled to air on Sunday, February 9th at 11am PT/2pm ET and will be simulcast on Animal Planet, Discovery, Discovery+, TBS, truTV, and Max.

Team Fluff faces off against Team Ruff to win Walmart’s “Lombalkie” trophy and the MVP (Most Valuable Puppy) title. Among Team Fluff’s participants is Smoosh, the only Pekingese to compete in the games. Team Ruff includes a Chihuahua from Nicaragua and Tuani, a German Shepherd.
Long-time Puppy Bowl referee Dan Schachner will return this year, and sportscasters Steve Levy and Taylor Rooks will provide foot-by-foot commentary.
Before the big game, Animal Planet will air a new segment, “Puppy Bowl XXI Kickoff,” starting at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET. The segment will include 10 potential puppies from across the country who will “participate in practice training and show off their moves in the first-ever puppy union,” Warner Bros. said, adding that each pup will be “selected as a Top Pick. “We will be competing to be the best,” he added. Participate in the Puppy Bowl Draft and join Team Ruff and Team Fluff’s rosters. ”
The event will also feature 11 “inspirational special needs dogs” who “do their best on the field despite their obstacles.”

Remarkable puppies
Jolene, an American pit bull terrier mix, competes in a wheelchair. She will be one of 11 special needs dogs taking to the field. The first St. Bernard/Julep mix ever. Sprinkle is a blind and deaf Australian Shepherd mix. Parsnip is a rescue pit bull mix trained at a humane shelter. Greater Kansas City Association (from Pets) by Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Derrick Nnady and his girlfriend, Nani Ladybug (a 10-year-old Chihuahua mix) looking for her forever home in Charleston, South Carolina helpers. Pickles is a pug and chihuahua from Dallas. SOS Animals Chihuahua and German Shepherd Tuani from Nicaragua. He was born in a shelter after his pregnant mother was rescued from the streets of San Juan del Sur.
