Mark Williams will not join the Los Angeles Lakers after all.
The team announced Saturday night that the deal that took over Williams from the Charlotte Hornets was “rescinated because it failed to meet the status of the trade.”
The deal fell apart after Williams physically failed. The physical person is someone who was told by USA Today Sports.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity as he was not authorized to disclose the information.
23-year-old Williams already has a history of major injuries. He appeared in just 43 games of last season’s 19 rookie season and made 23 appearances in Saturday’s games this season.
The trade sent Dalton Knecht, Cam Red Dish, 2031 first round pick and 2030 pick swap to Williams Charlotte for each Bobby Marks on ESPN, said, “Mark Williams and Dalton Necht report their bodies and physically It was subject to passing through.
Longtime front office executive Marks said the deal cannot be revised due to the current trade deadline. The players returned to their original team and the draft conditions were invalidated, Marks said.
The Hornets welcomed Williams to their team in an official statement posted on social media.
“We look forward to welcoming Mark back to the Hornets organization,” the team said in a statement. “After the other teams actively pursued Mark, we made the difficult decision to move him. We have always paid great respect for Mark’s talent, work ethic and personality. The central team has position.
“His returns will strengthen our team and we look forward to the impact he will come and go on the court.”
Trade is probably a long-term bullet that has collapsed for the Lakers, but the center is a clear concern for the rest of the season. It seemed Williams would depart for LA after Anthony Davis was sent to Dallas in the Luka Donsic trade. The fast-growing Lakers – nine winners of the last 10 games – will almost certainly be searching for the major shopping market.
