Paula Molzan continued her hot streak of American women at the World Championships.
Molzan won bronze on Thursday in a massive slalom, edging Norwegian Shea Louise Sjeansund in just 0.01 seconds with the first individual world medal of her career.
“I’m trying to keep my tears away for now, but I’m really, really happy and proud of the whole team,” Moltzan said.
This is the fourth medal that has won many races for American women, matching the best shows at the World Championships. Breezy Johnson won the gold downhill and paired up with Mikaela Shiffrin to team up. Lauren McCouga won the bronze in the Super G.
It is also the first time since 1985 that three different US women have won individual medals at the World Championships.
And they may not have been done yet. Slalom was Saturday and Shiffrin won medals at events at all the world championships she competed in. This includes four consecutive golds from 2013 to 2019.
Moltzan posted the third fastest time on his first GS run. She was late in the second, but was enough to keep her spot on the podium. Italy’s Federica Brignone was the first to win a silver medal for New Zealand’s Alice Robinson.
“I don’t think it’s set yet. Having two podiums in the GS might be something I’ve dreamed of life,” said Molzane, who was also the last world bronze medalist. said. Cup GS in front of the world.
“It feels pretty good to do that on a really big stage.”
The bronze medal comes two days after Moltzan and Macuga finished fourth in the teams. Macuga ran the fastest downhill run, but Moltzan couldn’t keep up the pace with Slarom and missed the bronze medal by 0.11 seconds.
Moltzan was also part of the US team that finished fourth in the Mixed Gender Team Parallel Race. Those finishing touched on her mind on Thursday, Moltzan said.
“It was very motivated,” Molzane said. “I quote (parallel teammate) Ladamas River: “There’s nothing worse than being fourth on a big stage.”
