The biggest reveal from the CES press conference may have come at another press conference. The hardware giant concluded the main event by teasing the company’s upcoming show. The next Samsung Unpacked event is scheduled for today at 10am Pacific Time, 1pm Eastern Time.
As with all Unpacked events these days, this big show will be streamed directly through both Samsung’s site and the company’s YouTube channel.
Samsung is excited to take pre-orders and pre-event pre-orders will come with a $50 Samsung Store Credit. All detailed instructions can be found here.
The absolute highlight of the event is the Galaxy S25 series. Since leaving CES/MWC for mobile announcements, the company has been developing flagship releases twice a year. The Galaxy S series will be released around January or February, followed by new foldable products over the summer.
The line should include three main models: the S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. The latter is part of the S line, which has absorbed the Galaxy Note as its largest and most premium device. As always, there will be leaks, renderings, and incidents in the lead up to the event. The latter is built based on the specifications submitted by Samsung to the manufacturer, so you can get an idea of the general dimensions of the line.
Most of the rumors indicate that the S25 will look a lot like its predecessor. The biggest change in terms of hardware is a slimmer design. Rumors released this week suggest that Samsung is cutting the device’s profile by 1-2 millimeters. Another rumor that is almost certain is that it will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip that Qualcomm announced in Hawaii last October. (The usual caveat is that there’s always some variation in processors in international markets. Here in the US, though, we’re pretty much done with it.)
Galaxy AI will naturally be a highlight, as Samsung not only positions itself as a leader in this space, but also differentiates itself from the Google Gemini features available on Android devices. Of course, the big AI announcement last year was Circle to Search, a Google feature first released in S24.
Other possibilities include a successor to the unpopular wearable device “Galaxy Ring” and details of the augmented reality headset “Project Moohan” being jointly developed with Google, although the certainty is quite low. There is a possibility that it will happen.
