Openai’s Head of Marketing Kate Rouch has announced that he will be leaving his role for three months while he is being treated for invasive breast cancer.
In a LinkedIn post, Rouch said that former Meta CMO Gary Briggs will act as interim marketing director during the holidays.
“A few weeks after my dream job earlier this year – I was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer,” writes Rouch. “For the past five months, I have been undergoing chemotherapy at UCSF while leading the marketing team. It was the most difficult season of my life. For me, my husband and my two young children.”
Luch says her prognosis is “good” and she is expected to recover completely.
“One in eight American women suffer from invasive breast cancer,” she wrote in her post. “42,000 people die each year. Fees are rising for young women. I share my story (…) and encourage health to prioritize family and work demands. I saved my life with my daily exams.
Luchi, who previously worked with Briggs in Meta, took part in Open Rye in December. She was previously a CMO for Coinbase, and before that she led brand and product marketing for platforms such as Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, Facebook and more.
