Openai says it will be able to build the local infrastructure needed to better serve international AI customers.
As part of the new program, Openai will partner with the government to support efforts such as building data center capacity and customizing Openai products, including ChatGPT, to meet specific languages and local needs.
The startup says funding for the program comes from Openai and its governments, as well as governments in the country. The goal is to pursue 10 international projects, but Openai has not yet stated where it is.
Openai said it hopes to “spread democratic AI.” It essentially wants to persuade other countries to use Western AI models, especially Openai, rather than Chinese competitors.
According to Bloomberg, Openai for Awarity aims to complement Project Stargate, the push for its AI data center. This is reportedly expanding beyond Openai in the US.
