Openai is introducing a new data residency program in Asia, the company announced Thursday after the data residency program was rolled out in February.
The new programs available to Openai’s ChatGPT Enterprise, ChatGpt Edu and Openai APIs aim to help Asian-based organizations meet local data sovereignty requirements while using the AI companies’ products. Eligible API customers and new ChatGPT Enterprise and EDU subscribers can choose to store data in supportive countries such as Japan, India, Singapore and South Korea.
“For API platforms and CHATGPT business products, data is still confidential, secure and fully owned,” OpenAI wrote in a blog post. “Data residency further enhances organizational data control.”
The Asian Data Residency program debuts as Openai appears to accelerate its expansion overseas. This week, the company announced Openai for the country. It says that Openai will be able to build the infrastructure it needs to properly serve its international customers.
