Elon Musk has formally announced that he will step down as a US special government employee and as de facto head of the Government Efficiency Office known as Doge.
The move follows Musk’s cooling ties with the Trump administration, and thwarts Tesla sales, which have been linked to his political advocacy. Despite the announced departure, Musk cried out to President Trump for an opportunity to tackle government waste, claiming Doge’s mission would not go anywhere anytime soon. Since its inception, the organization has already cut interagency budgets, cut jobs, shut down departments, and sparked a lot of controversy along the way.
Today, TechCrunch’s equity podcast features Anthony HA, with Kirsten Korosec, Max Zeff and Anthony HA departing other Doges.
