The Milwaukee Bucks’ championship aspirations are at risk, with star Damien Lillard being diagnosed with deep venous thrombosis.
Milwaukee Bucks All-Star Guard Damien Lillard suffers from deep venous thrombosis in his right calf, the team announced.
According to the Bucks, Lillard is taking blood thinning medication that stabilized his condition and he continues to get tested. The team did not provide a schedule for Lillard’s returns on Tuesday, but they simply said updates would be provided if necessary.
“Damien’s health is our number one priority,” Bucks general manager John Holst said in a statement. “We will assist him as he goes through a strict standard process every week to ensure he is safe to return to play, and doctors have shown that his situation is very unlikely to happen again.
Lillard, 34, sat in the Bucks’ final three games called a calf injury after his last play for the Golden State Warriors on March 18th.
Lillard averages 24.9 points, 7.1 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 1.2 steels per game in 58 games (all starts) in his second season against Milwaukee. He has a career with the Portland Trail Blazers (2012-23) and the Bucks with 25.1 points, 6.7 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game in 900 games.
The Bucks (40-31) have 11 games left in the regular season. They are currently ranked fifth in the Eastern Conference rankings, down a pair of Jericho Sims (Sam) and Bobby Portis JR (Suspension) big names.
