Two Olympics gold medals. World Championships in five weight categories. Unoffic title as the best pound fighter in women’s boxing.
CLARESSA SHIELDS (15-0, 3 KOS) appears to have everything, but still during the battle of heavyweight titles that are not discussed with Daniel Parkins (5-0, 2 ko) on Sunday. There is something to prove.
Despite all the praise, Shields has not yet shown a consistent knockout power. She ended the final battle of TKO, but after a stretch for almost seven years without knockout. Now, Shields told the USA Today Sports and said that moving to a heavyweight would reveal something new.
“I’m much more comfortable fighting in heavyweight than 154 pounds,” Shields said. “I always felt very strong (168 pounds). I didn’t get knockouts, but I still had a pretty bad girl … but in 154 I have seen a big difference between my power and my power, but now I’m fighting heavy.
When you go to the game, Shields is a big favorite for obvious reasons.
Parkins are 42 years old, 29 years older than shields. She has little experience. However, she has won two of the five professionals in knockouts, with a large size with six feet.
Parkins fought three times at more than 195 pounds, in addition to the height of 4 inches than the 5 -foot 8 shield. In contrast, Shields never fought in July with a weight of 175 pounds, which won the WBC and WBF world heavyweight belts.
The height of the basketball coat often provided perkins. From 2003 to 2006, she played in St. Jung, leading the team in blocks during the 2004-05 season, and leading the team in the next season.
However, on Sunday, she is not a basketball coat, but with the boxing ring shield.
“I might put Daniel in my back pocket,” Shields said.
CLARESSA SHIELDS wallet and bonus
Shields said that the wallet for the battle was $ 1.5 million and had a non -money bonus. This event will be held in the hometown of Frint, Michigan. “Fire Inside”, released in December of Shields’s life and boxing career in December, showed how her training in a rough town was shaped as a boxer.
“Oh, man” said Shields. “Born and raised in Frint, Michigan has planted a lot of hardcore for me. Not only physically, but mentally.
“I think there are the most solicited people, real people, and humble people in flint. We are very diligent, and we are always counted.”
The battle will be held at the DORT FINANCIAL CENTER with about 5,000 capacity for boxing events.
