Happy Valentine’s Day, see the party crew! It’s a day about all love and here’s one of me: I’m Captain America.
He has been my favorite comic book character since I was a kid in the 80s. She Hulk is 2 seconds straight away. Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers is the moral center of his own solo film and “The Avengers” flick, and Anthony Mackey’s Sam Wilson, the new man with a shield, has stated, “Captain America: Brave It was brought to the forefront with the New World.
Speaking of throwbacks, on the 50th anniversary of Saturday Night Live, I revisited my favorite castmates and sketches. meter.

See Anthony Mackie All heavy lifting in “Captain America: Brave New World”
When copying parts of a Marvel movie, there is something worse than Captain America: Winter Soldiers. The new “Breathful New World” borrows a 1970s-style paranoid sriller angle. But while Mackie and his cast members all carry on everything, especially Harrison Ford, who turns into Hulk (!), the new adventure has too many subplots and fanservice, and it’s a coherent one. It forms a story. (See ★★½ Review.)
Ever since I met him on the set of “The Winter Soldier” in 2013, I’ve been covering Mackie in Marvel movies. For a preview of “The Brave New World,” we chatted about why Sam Wilson is a great superhero. As the Red Hulk, and why Mackie brings his little Captain America Happy Meal toy with him wherever he goes. “I’m never going to get through it,” he says. “I’ll never surpass that. I’d never think it wasn’t cool.”
Stream the best of Saturday Night Live before the 50th anniversary special
When you first saw the show, you have long thought of the belief that your “SNL” is dependent on you forever. For me, the era of Eddie Murphy, Martin Short, Billy Crystal, and the original cast with John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd have been far better than the show in recent years. Our TV critic Kelly Lawler has a pretty good ranking of 50 best cast members (Murphy is a strong No. 1) and 50 best sketches (don’t sacrifice “What’s wrong?”) I’ve put it all together. Make sure to head to Peacock’s “SNL” hub and see their biggest hits before Sunday’s anniversary.
I know what you’re thinking: “Why are they celebrating in February when “SNL” first aired in October 1975? “That doesn’t make sense to me either, but I certainly have many memories. Watch the docusaries on the history of the show’s musical guests and the film Saturday Night.
Vote now on your first USA Today Movie Meter
Sadly, most of us are unable to vote for the Academy Awards. So we want to hear from you – yes, you! – About what you choose for your best photos of the year. The USA Today Movie Meter is a way to rank and select your favorites from Oscar candidates, such as “Conclave”, “Dune: Part 2”, “Anora” and “Wicked”. Then, on March 3rd, the morning after Oscar, they announce the winner of their first film meter on NBC’s “The Today Show,” but the real winner is probably still asleep. (After Party, baby!) So, catch up with a movie you haven’t seen yet and let us know what your movie tastes like.
