Electric Boat Startup Arc has a new model, the cheapest and most accessible vessel ever.
The new boats are called the Ark Coast and start at $168,000. The company is currently pre-ordering and says it will ship the coast in 2026.
The coast is known as a “center console” boat and is often used for fishing. This is the company’s third model, following the limited edition $300,000 Arc One and the $268,000 ARC Sports (which could be piloted earlier this year). It’s despite coming out of stealth just four years ago.
ARC recently announced it is working on an electric tugboat used in the Port of Los Angeles. The startup is trying to successfully make founder and CEO Mitchley’s ambitious promise to electrify all vessels.
According to the company, the coast features the same 226kWh battery pack arc designed for sports, and is roughly the same size. That battery should last for hours with 4-5 or more batteries, depending on the amount of drivers using the 400 horsepower provided, and can power the coast up to about 50 mph. A maximum of 10 people can board.
The major difference between coast and sports other than price is the layout. True to its name, the boat’s “console” or helm is in the center, allowing for free movement around the edge. It appears to have the same fit and finish as other boats on ARC. ARC also puts a lot of work into the software on the center console screen.
Add all the other tops on top of gas boats that have no smoke and less wintering noise. And it’s possible to imagine people justifying the eye-opening price tag when they hit the market next year.
