Perhaps in the announcement from Openai’s Operator at a time of warning, Anthropic Tuesday has announced a new feature of the developer API called CITATIONS. As a result, the developer can “root” the answer from the AI Claude family into a source document such as e -mail.
According to Anthropic, CITATIONS can provide detailed reference to the “accurate sentence and verse” of the document used to generate an response. As of Thursday afternoon, CITATIONS is available on both Anthropic API and Google Vertex AI platform.
As ANTHROPIC explains in the blog post, developers can add source files and automatically quote the assertions estimated by the model. According to Anthropic, quotes are especially useful in documents, Q & A, and customer support applications, and this feature can insert information sources into the model.
Quotes are not available in all models of Anthropic. Only Claude 3.5 Sonnet and Claude 3.5 HAIKU. Also, this function is not free. Anthropic states that the quotation may be charged according to the length and number of the source document.
Based on the standard API price of Anthropic used by CITATIONS, the cost of about 100 page source documents is about $ 0.30 for Claude 3.5 Sonnet and $ 0.08 for Claude 3.5 HAIKU. It may be worth it for developers who want to reduce the hallucinations and other AI errors.
