At Amazon’s annual Device & Services event on Wednesday, the company introduced Alexa+, an expanded version of Voice Assistant.
During the demonstration, Amazon showed users how to share documents with Alexa+, recall important details and answer questions about those documents.
Mara Segal, director of Alexa, provided some examples of how this functionality works. In one example, she asked Alexa+, “How much oil did you need from Grandma’s zucchini bread recipe?” Alexa+ was able to extract answers from previously uploaded recipes.
In a more complex scenario, users can upload documents from the Homeowners Association (HOA) and ask questions about guidelines that many people tend to overlook.
Additionally, users can forward multiple emails from their children’s school to Alexa+, extract and summarise important information. You can also manage your calendar to ensure you don’t miss out on important school events.
Amazon has demonstrated several Alexa+ features at the event. This includes the ability to jump to various movie scenes in Prime Video to control smart home devices, allowing users to move music between speakers in different rooms.
