Google announced on Tuesday that it will begin Gemini integration with Chrome at Google I/O 2025. Tech Giant is a new integration that allows users to access the new AI browsing assistant, helping them to quickly understand the context of their pages and perform tasks.
Chrome’s Gemini can be accessed by typing and talking with Gemini Live. You can start a chat with your AI assistant by clicking the Gemini icon in the top right corner of the Chrome window.
At launch, the integration allows users to ask Gemini to clarify complex information about the pages they are visiting. You can also summarize the information.
For example, you can open a page with a banana bread recipe and ask Gemini to make gluten in the recipe free. Alternatively, you can use Gemini to allow you to choose the perfect bedroom plan depending on your lighting conditions. Another use case is to ask Gemini to create a pop quiz based on the topics described on the web page you are visiting.
Starting Wednesday, Chemini’s Gemini will begin deploying on desktops to Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra Subscribers in the US, which use English as the Chrome language on Windows and MacOS. It is also available to Chrome Beta, Dev and Canary users.
The idea behind this feature is to make it easier for users to access Gemini in Chrome. This is because it is likely that Google is looking for a way to get Openai to use Gemini instead of ChatGPT for these types of questions, inquiries, and summaries.
In the future, Chrome’s Gemini will be able to work on multiple tabs at once. This means that you can do things like comparing two different sleeping bags that are open in different tabs. Chrome’s Gemini can also navigate the website for you. For example, you can ask Gemini to scroll to a specific part of the recipe using a single command.
According to Google, users can imagine that Gemini in Chrome will help automate the automation of their most favorite online tasks in the future, and believes that users can turn a 30-minute task into a three-click journey.
