Bhutan, a South Asian country in the Himalayas, has partnered with Binance Pay and the fully digital DK bank to launch a national level crypto payment system for tourism.
Partnerships are marked only when tourism products accept cryptocurrencies at the national level.
Tourists are available to access a variety of tourist services, including flight and hotel tickets, visa and sustainable development fees (SDF) fees, memorial admission fees, and local shopping, including Binance Pay via static and dynamic QR code payments.
More than 100 merchants in Bhutan currently live using Binance Pay and DK Bank. The service supports over 100 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, BNB and USDC.
The pioneering crypto payment system allows tourists to take advantage of a seamless and fully integrated travel experience system for immigration, staying and shopping while in Bhutan.
Binance CEO Richard Teng said, “We are not only moving forward with cryptocurrency use in travel, but also setting precedents for how technology bridges culture and economy, and we are excited to partner with Bhutan.”
“This is more than a payment solution: it’s a commitment to innovation, inclusion and convenience,” said Damcho Lintsin, director of the Bhutan Tourism Board. “This will allow travelers to have a seamless experience, allowing even small vendors in faraway villages to participate in the tourism economy.”
Bhutan is a picturesque country in the Himalayas that offers tourists the opportunity to experience its rich natural beauty and unique cultural heritage.
