Rep. Suzan Delbene, chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, said he was “in attack” on the “Trump Mask Agenda” that targeted dozens of GOP Congressional districts in next year’s midterm elections.
“And Republicans are running scared, for good reason,” Delvene said this morning, “it’s too early.”
Americans “rely rely on programs that rely on rising prices and being attacked like Social Security and Medicaid, people whose communities are losing their jobs,” Delvene said.
This is a preview of the message she hopes for in a district where Democrats plan to tackle the challenges.
“It’s a kitchen table issue: the economy, the housing costs, the food, childcare and health care costs,” she said.
Delbene, who launched a democratic campaign effort in 2024, said he would like to take advantage of House GOP incumbents running for a higher office, like Andy Barr of Kentucky, who is considering running for Senate running, or John James of Michigan, who is running for governor.
“It’s an opportunity for us,” Delvene said, referring to James. She added, “Open seats will be easier.”
“We also had lots of seats that were really close last time,” she said. “We have seats that are shaking. They went to Biden in 2020 and Trump in 2024. There are nine of those seats.
“And we saw what happened in Florida too, Republicans won by a huge margin,” she said. “They were cut in half in just a few months. It tells us where Americans are and tenors of frustration and anger towards Republicans.”
Delben noted that the White House party tends to be inadequately doomed in midterm election years.
“Here is history on our side,” she said. “We only need three seats to get back our majority. We currently have a microscopic majority.”
