The Japanese gaming giant was expected to reveal release date, prices and other important details in a live presentation on Wednesday.
Nintendo plans to unveil key details of the Switch follow-up in a presentation that games fans and investors have equally enthusiastically anticipated.
The Japanese gaming giants will begin their one-hour presentation of Switch 2 at 13:00 GMT on Wednesday.
The Nintendo in-person event comes after the Kyoto-based company confirmed the existence of the next-generation system in a short teaser video released in mid-January.
The teaser showed that future consoles have a similar look despite having a larger screen and the same hybrid features as the original switch.
The video also provided a short preview of upcoming articles from Nintendo’s popular Mario Kart franchise.
Nintendo has provided little other details about the system, including technical specifications, but it has been confirmed that you can play the original Switch game.
The Nintendo Switch is the third bestselling gaming console ever, following Sony’s PlayStation 2 and its own DS handheld.
Released in 2017, the console sells over 150 million units worldwide.
The console’s explosive popularity helped turn Nintendo’s fortunes up after years of inadequate financial results following the release of the inadequate Wii U.
Nintendo shares have risen by more than 28% over the past year in anticipation of Switch 2, refusing to a sharp decline in the Japanese stock market over the period.
