The day after quietly removing the commitment of the Biden-era AI policy from its website, humanity proposed to the White House for its national AI policy, which the company states, “better preparations to acquire economic benefits.”
The company’s proposals include preserving the AI Safety Institute established under the Biden administration, directing NIST to develop a national security assessment of a powerful AI model, and building a team within government to analyze potential security vulnerabilities in AI.
Humanity is also calling for strengthened AI chip export restrictions, particularly restrictions on the sale of NVIDIA H20 chips to China, for national security. To fuel AI data centers, humanity is recommending that by 2027, establish a national target of building 50 additional gigawatts specialized in the AI industry.
Some of the policy proposals are closely aligned with former President Biden’s AI executive order, which Trump abolished in January. Critics who allied with Trump argued that reporting requirements for the order were troublesome.
