On Tuesday, Adobe announced that it will bring popular design and editing software Photoshop to mobile, starting with iOS. The company plans to launch Photoshop for Android apps later this year.

The new Photoshop for iPhone app allows users to access both free and paid features via a mobile-friendly design that allows them to be accessed on the go. The app offers similar editing tools to the desktop version, such as layering and masking, but is optimized for use on mobile screens. Photoshop for iPhone is also integrated with Photoshop on the web for a fee.

For users who want to access premium features and Photoshop on the web, Adobe has launched a monthly subscription plan for $7.99. All current paid plans for Photoshop already include access to mobile Photoshop, Adobe says.

By bringing Photoshop to mobile, Adobe aims to attract new users, especially younger users who are used to using their phones for creative purposes.

In its announcement, Adobe said it has built the app “to welcome a new generation of image and design enthusiasts into the infinite possibilities of Photoshop.”

This app also allows you to compete with popular editing apps such as Snapseed, Picsart, and Canva Mobile.

For those who are already using Photoshop on their desktop, web, and iPad, the new app allows you to create edits anywhere and work across your device.

Free users can combine images to blend together and blend core Photoshop tools such as selection, layers, masks and more. You can also delete, recruit, or replace some of the images with the “Tap Selection” tool. Additionally, you can access removal tools such as “Spot Healing Brush” and use generation AI tools equipped with Adobe Firefly, such as “Generation Filling” and “Generation Extension.”

Plus, you’ll get access to hundreds of thousands of free Adobe stock assets. Free users can also navigate across workflows thanks to direct integration with Adobe Express, Adobe Fresco and Adobe Lightroom.

Paid users will be able to move from Photoshop Mobile to Photoshop on the web to add precision and control. You can also access additional firefly-powered AI tools such as “similar similar generation” and “reference images.”

Plus, you can access over 20,000 fonts, along with the ability to import additional options.

Other premium features include “Object Select” and “Magic Wand” allows you to make accurate selections, a tool that allows you to separate objects and adjust targets. Paid users can also remove distractions with “Delete Tools”, hide unwanted objects with “Clone Stamps”, or fill in some of the images with “Content Recognition”.

There is an option to lighten or darken areas of the image, control transparency, and use an advanced blend mode that allows you to add unique styles to the image.

“We spent a lot of time talking to creatives and creators, especially the new generation of creators who are extremely comfortable with their mobile phones, trying to understand unique use cases on mobile devices,” Photoshop, TechCrunch and during a briefing. “And we took that feedback and put it into the product and made sure it worked really well for these users.”

Kadam said early testers on the app used it to create digital art, mood boards, podcast art, album cover art, fashion lookbooks, video thumbnails, memes and more.

Photoshop on iPhones is generally available worldwide on the Apple App Store.
