Gig Marketplace Fiverr wants freelancers to train AI to work bodies and use it to automate future work.
At the event on Tuesday, Fiverr announced the launch of several new initiatives aimed at attracting gig workers to its platform and equipping them with generative AI tools. Perhaps most ambitious is a program that provides freelancers who do narration, graphic design, and certain related tasks with the ability to train AI with content and bill customers for access.
Fiverr CEO Micha Kaufman has pitched the move as a way to ensure gig workers will “provide unprecedented tools to expand their work while receiving appropriate credit and compensation.”
“This is to make freelancers unabated, not abolished,” Kaufman said in a statement. “We’ve built (these new features) to help creators stay at the heart of the creative economy.”
The gig market has been particularly hit by the emergence of cheap and widely available generator AI technology. Recent reports show that AI tools such as Image Generators and Openai’s ChatGPT are suffering from writers, programmers and app developers taking on the brunt of negative effects, increasing competition to play lesser roles I understand.
These jobs may not return. In an independent, slightly older study looking at the movement of the gig marketplace over nine months, researchers concluded that the trend to trade freelancers only accelerates over time.
Fiverr’s grand plan to address this is what is called the “personal AI creation model,” where contractors construct AI models trained with previous works (artwork, e.g., code), and You can set the price to use. Fiverr says freelancers retain ownership of the work generated by the model, including song lyrics, illustrations, marketing copying, and digital advertising design.

“Buyers have the full flexibility to choose freelancer AI-generated work, human-created work, or seamless blends of both,” a spokesman for Fiverr emailed TechCrunch He spoke in. “Customers can pay instantly to download the assets generated by AI, or ask freelancers for additional editing. They can also be used as a starting point for the project, as an example or inspiration, to AI. You can contact freelancers of the generated work and ask for specific services.”
At launch on Wednesday, only “thousands” of “top” freelancers will be able to create models. Fiverr says it uses “advanced language models” and “generating frameworks” to promote functionality. This is not free. The price of the personal AI-created model is $25 per month.
Gig workers may not feel they have many options. Choosing not to participate will put you at a competitive disadvantage in the sector that punishes you in the first place. Many gig workers face financial insecurity, struggle to cover costs, struggle to pay bills, and lack the benefits and legal protections they can give to full-time employees.
Fiverr emphasizes that gig worker data will not be used to train internal models (models that may compete with workers) and that individuals can always disable AI-generated models.
“Creative Work and the AI Models Freelancers Train belong to them,” the spokesman continued. “Fiverr can collect anonymized usage data aggregated solely to improve the performance and user experience of the platform, but it is not possible to replicate or compete with the creative work and services of freelancers. No. If a freelancer disables the AI-created model, you can access the generated content. The model and no one else can access it.”
Fiverr contractors using the Personal AI Creation Model can access Fiverr’s “Personal AI Assistant” ($29 a month, or included in Fiverr’s Seller Plus Premium Plan). client. Fiverr says customizable assistants can “provide practical business insights.” For example, respond on behalf of an offline contractor.
Gigg workers may be wary of allowing them to train, given the sensitive nature of some of these interactions. Fiverr does not say whether users have control over the specific chats that personal AI assistants use to tweak.

“() Personal assistants analyze each freelancer’s profile, gigs and past client communications,” the spokesman said. “Freelancers can view and adjust personal assistant responses during the setup process. After setup, freelancers can further enhance the behavior of personal assistants by defining specific topics that trigger handoffs to the freelancer. You can configure and add or remove questions or answers about whether your personal AI assistant will answer.
Complementing the launch of the AI product, Fiverr announced a programme that is scheduled to be released on Thursday. Tuesday’s FIVERR will not say how the winners will be determined, or how many shares they can expect to receive, or what payment cadence they will be in any number or how many shares.
Fiverr had a market capitalization of approximately $1.16 billion as of last Friday. Shared performance has risen and fall over the past year, but Fiverr’s fate has been heading for the better recently.
