Workers at the Amazon warehouse in Garner, North Carolina voted against the union in the election results announced today.
According to United at the Carolina Amazon for Solidarity and Empowerment (Cause), workers groups seeking to form unions have been voted 3,276 in elections, with 25.3% of votes supporting unions and 74.7% was against it. The results still need to be accredited by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
In a statement provided to CNBC, he condemned the outcome of “the willingness to break Amazon’s laws,” saying, “Amazon’s ruthless and illegal efforts to intimidate us will make this company claim our power. It proves that he is afraid to come with him.”
Amazon spokesman Eileen Hades denied that the company had broken the law and said, “We chose to keep Garner’s team listening and maintain a direct relationship with Amazon.” I’m happy,” he said.
Workers at Amazon warehouses on Staten Island voted for union in 2022, while workers at Amazon-owned Whole Foods location in Philadelphia also voted in favor of unionization earlier this year. The grocery chain asked the NLRB to put these results aside.
Meanwhile, Amazon’s lawyers recently joined SpaceX on a legal challenge to the structure of the NLRB.
