Baseball Hall of Fame Wade Boggs released some good news on Friday. Former Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Devil Rays stars have confirmed he is “cancer-free.”
Boggs, 66, said he was diagnosed with prostate cancer in September 2024, but made a rebellious note at the time. “I wasn’t a goal-oriented person, but with the strength of my family, support and faith in God, I’m going to ring that bell,” Boggs wrote in a social media post.
It has proven to be true. One of the greatest third basemen in major league baseball history says he now has no cancer after a course of treatment. Thanks to the doctor, Boggs posted a welcome update to his account on X.
“A very emotional day,” Boggs wrote. “I would like to thank my doctors Dr. Englemann and Dr. Heidenberg, and I am pleased to announce that I am not cancer-related, even for your thoughts and prayers.”
Over his outstanding 17-year career, Boggs has raised some great numbers. His 3,010 hits have become one of only 33 players in MLB history with a 3,000-hit club. Boggs – career .328 batters – posted 1,014 RBIs and 1,513 runs in his career, along with 118 home runs.
