
Winning a national title brings more than just satisfaction and admiration. It also brings financial benefits and job security. Ohio State announced a new contract for coach Ryan, soccer coach, two weeks after the Buckeyes defeated Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff Championship Game in Atlanta.
The seven-year contracts taking place throughout the 2031 season will increase the daily annual payout to $12.5 million, delaying only Georgia Kobe Smart coaches among bowl plot coaches. The contract for the 2024 season was worth just under $10 million, and was the highest-paid coach, ranked sixth in the USA Today Sports annual salary survey last season.
“Ohio State football has long been defined by excellence. Under Ryan Day’s leadership, the tradition not only continued, but also flourished,” said Ohio State athletic director Ross Bjork. said in a statement issued. “His leadership maintains a prominent national status each year, and with his victory at the 2024 national championship, he examined the culture of excellence, integrity and perseverance in his program.”
Day has compiled a 70-10 record in six seasons as Ohio State coach. His winning percentage (.875) is the highest among active FBS coaches and third among history coaches.

New contracts during the day come after a season when there was speculation about this future in the program. Ohio State lost to Michigan State for the fourth straight time, missing out on the Big Ten Championship game. The Buckeyes, which expanded their first college football playoffs as the eighth seed, have won one of the great postseasons in the history of college football.
After winning four games with double figures starting with Tennessee’s defeat, he followed a victory against Notre Dame in the Rose Bowl, the Texas Sugar Bowl and the championship game.
