NEW ORLEANS – Saquon Berkley is stuck with his opinion on who is at the top of NFL history.
“I think Barry Sanders is the best running back and the best player to get to experience the best football ever,” Berkley said.
Barkley has the chance to achieve some notable milestones that what the Detroit Lions Hall of Fame runs is never achieved. Wins the Super Bowl and becomes the NFL’s greatest single-season rush leader of all time, including the playoffs.
Berkley, which produced 2,447 rushing yards, has covered the 2,476-yard single-season rush record set in 1998 by Denver Broncos Hall of Fame Terrell Davis’ 2,476-yard single-season rush record (including playoffs) to just 30. She’s shy in the yard.
This is a record that many around the NFL believe is more honorable than the NFL regular season rush records.

“It makes more impact. If you win the Super Bowl, especially if you can win the Super Bowl, you can break the record at the same time,” sports today. “If he can break the record and win the Super Bowl, it’s like the best of both worlds.”
Ironically, Berkley had the opportunity to break the 1984 regular season rush record for 2,105 yards by Los Angeles Rams Hall of Fame Eric Dickerson. Berkley was 101 yards after passing Dickerson’s mark, but the Eagles chose not to play Berkley or other key players in week 18.

Dickerson’s record year helped the Rams reach the playoffs, but Los Angeles lost in the wild card round. Davis’ comprehensive rushing records drove the Broncos to a Super Bowl 33 victory.
Like Davis, the historic season of Berkley on the ground could be the catalyst for the Philadelphia Eagles to win the Super Bowl.
“If he’s not there, and if he doesn’t have the play he made this year, I don’t know if we’re here,” the Eagles told coach Gemal Singleton to USA Today Sports. “And I’m fine saying that. Because of the year type and the type he’s a young man. He’s incredible. And his presence outside the field, not just in the field, but in the building. I can’t believe it in the people in the locker room (and) inside. I can’t find anyone who doesn’t talk much about Saquon Berkley. That’s how wonderful he is.”
Berkley was everything the Eagles had hoped for since the team signed him during the 2024 free agency. The seventh-year running back rushed to the Eagles’ franchise record and NFL high 2,005 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns in the regular season. His 442 yards and five rushing touchdowns in the playoffs are both postseason highs. He has over 70 yards of touchdowns, including this year’s playoffs.
Super Bowl 59: hate all the chiefs you like. Their Super Bowl 3-peat run is still legal.
He is a candidate for both the NFL MVP and the offensive player of the year.
“Saquon is special. He’s a humble person, so I can tell him that,” Singleton said. “He thinks you’re one of the people who just added a size blend, you added a speed blend, but you also added a lateral mobility blend. Back It’s very rare that he has everything. Usually, “Hey, he’s a straight-speed home run batter, but his lateral mobility may not be that good,” “Hey, he’s He can run some tackles, but his top end can run that speed. “Saquon has it all. “
In a poetic way, Super Bowl 59 just happens to fall on Berkley’s 28th birthday. Davis’s greatest rushing record of all time makes a great birthday present, but the ultimate award that Berkley really wants is a Super Bowl victory.
“I think it’s cool to be mentioned in how successful he is and knowing the career he had on a run like he is,” Berkley said of Davis’s record.
“All records and so on are cool. What really matters is winning the Super Bowl.”
